Hieronder vindt u het commentaar van Aberdeen Standard Investments van senior economist James McCann op de Fed:

'This is very much in line with what investors thought the Fed would do. The trick now is for the Fed to stick to their guns. You could make the case that the US economic data warranted a cut to interest rates at this point, especially considering risks to the outlook.

'But the Fed should not just be reacting to what’s going on in financial markets and that’s exactly what it did last year. That set a dangerous precedent and Jay Powell will have to work hard to get financial markets to realise that he isn’t going to cut at the faintest sign of volatility. The Fed has to act just on the economic data and nothing more.'
