“This is really only a taste of things to come. This data only covers the very start of the lockdown period so we know there are many more people unemployed than what we can see here."

“These numbers will hopefully galvanize Congress as they put together the next fiscal stimulus package. Job losses on this scale are almost like opening a huge trap door under the economy. Nobody knows how deep the hole is but Congress has to do whatever it can to fill it in as quickly as possible with as many measures as they can find. But there is no doubt that these numbers point to an economic shock the likes of which we’ve never seen before.”
