PenSam and AllianzGI enter strategic investment partnership in infrastructure

Allianz Global Investors and PenSam announced today that they are entering a strategic partnership in infrastructure. The partnership, a mandate, amounting to EUR300 million on an initial three-year investment cycle with the expectation of continued investments thereafter, will be allocated to global infrastructure projects with a particular focus on Europe.
Through this partnership, the Danish pension fund PenSam significantly expands its portfolio of funds and co-investments in infrastructure with a strong sustainability profile. Asset Manager Allianz Global Investors (AllianzGI) has been selected as a partner based on their proven ability to deliver long-term, competitive returns and their strong ESG profile, which aligns well with PenSam’s values and investment strategy.
The partnership creates new opportunities in a global investment universe, with a special focus on co-investments in European infrastructure projects, supporting PenSam’s strategy of geographic diversification. PenSam already has positive experience working with specialized asset managers in private equity. The new infrastructure mandate with AllianzGI follows the same model, where PenSam invests side by side with Allianz in the same projects – an approach that ensures cost-effective access to attractive investments and effective risk management.
'We have high expectations for a partnership with AllianzGI, a globally recognized asset manager with strong expertise in infrastructure and ESG. The collaboration will support PenSam’s ambition to deliver solid, long-term returns for our members.'
Jeppe Starup, Head of Private Capital and Real Assets at PenSam
'We are delighted about this partnership with PenSam, a leading Danish institution and like-minded investor, which reflects the strength of our investment capabilities and our deep understanding of long-term institutional needs and ESG criteria.'
Maria Aguilar-Wittmann, Co-Head of Infrastructure Fund, Co-Investments & Secondaries at AllianzGI
