The recommendations of Jevon Ong
Since 2022, Jevon Ong has been working in insurance investment management at NN Group. He began with NN’s traineeship program, which included a secondment at NN Greece’s unit-linked business. Prior to this, Ong studied Financial Economics in Rotterdam and completed his Bachelor’s degree in Leuven, Belgium.
What is your (business) life motto and why:
‘Never let someone tell you, you can’t do something; if you never try, you will never know.’ This quote comes from the movie ‘The Pursuit of Happyness’. People may have good reasons to tell you that you can’t do it. Perhaps they see a weakness in you, or they have tried it themselves and failed. But if this is what you need to do – and not merely want to do – act on it now before any lingering self-doubt festers within you.’
What reading, listening, or viewing recommendation do you have for our readers, and why?
‘I recommend reading El-Erian’s (former PIMCO CEO) daily updates on his LinkedIn. El-Erian updates his followers actively on his platform about what he sees in the market, the topical trends, and his interpretations. I find his grasp of the macroeconomy and financial markets insightful, especially when he is able to explain like I’m 5.’
