LGIM: ECB’s inflation worries are not fading
Hetal Mehta, Senior European Economist at Legal & General Investment Management, comments on ECB interest rate hike:
'The ECB completed a full set of major central bank hawkish messages. By indicating that rates need to rise significantly further and that it will start quantitative tightening in the spring, the ECB is catching up with other central banks in getting policy into restrictive mode.
Despite the euro area most likely already in recession, and lower spot energy prices in recent months, the ECB’s inflation worries are not fading.'
