Patrick Groenendijk joins Alliance Bernstein as Director Benelux Institutions

On February 1, 2022, Alliance Bernstein (AB) welcomed Patrick Groenendijk to the team as the new Director—Benelux Institutions based in Amsterdam. In this role, Patrick will oversee Alliance Bernstein’s strategic relationships with institutional investors, working with clients in the region on investment strategy, asset allocation and ESG implementation. He will also be responsible for strategy and business development for the broader institutional team in the Benelux.

Patrick brings a wealth of experience in the institutional marketplace to AB, with over 25 years in the asset management industry. In this time, he has built leading expertise in a wide range of asset classes and skillsets, including investment strategy, multi-asset investing, client engagement, private markets and ESG. He joins AB from PGGM, where he was Principal Fiduciary Advice, overseeing all asset management activities on behalf of the firm’s largest client, PFZW.

He previously worked for Shell Asset Management Company, where he was Head of Strategy & ESG. Prior to this he served as Global Head of Equity Strategy at Northern Trust Asset Management, spent nine years as CIO of Pensioenfonds Vervoer, and has also worked at Pensioenfonds Metalektro and ABP Investments.

Patrick brings a new and unique investment strategy perspective to AB. The range and depth of his experience across a number of different areas and skillsets in the institutional investment industry means he is ideally placed to advise AB’s clients on all parts of their investment strategy.
