In recent weeks markets have been buoyed by news of three effective vaccines against Covid-19 possibly being rolled out next year. Despite this, there are still challenges around distributing them that need to be overcome.

While initial results suggest the effectiveness of the AstraZeneca/University of Oxford vaccine may be lower than the Pfizer/BioNTech and Moderna vaccines, it is easier to store and is cheaper. If the AstraZeneca/Oxford vaccine is as effective at preventing severe disease as the initial results suggest and gets approved soon, it could be a major breakthrough for the world and particularly the emerging markets, which have pre-ordered far more of it than any of the other vaccines.
