Paul Diggle, Hoofdeconoom bij Aberdeen Standard Investments, reageert op de strategieherziening van de ECB:

Diggle: 'The 2% inflation target, the extremely vague language around inflation overshoots, and the inclusion of housing in the inflation basket are marginal changes and widely expected. Where the review is ground-breaking are the climate change aspects – in the near-term the ECB wants to build modelling expertise and data sources on climate risk, but in the medium term they are going to do ‘green QE’ (as least for the corporate sector purchase programme), haircut bonds in their collateral operations depending on companies’ climate credentials, and stress test the Eurosystem against climate change scenarios. Other central banks are going to be reading this and thinking hard about how they can show a similar commitment to greening monetary policy.'
