LONDON, 10 MARCH 2020: Columbia Threadneedle Investments, a leading global asset management group, has enhanced its Central Equity Research Team in EMEA with the appointment of Anne Marie Fleurbaaij as Senior Equity Analyst.

Ms Anne Marie Fleurbaaij brings 20 years’ experience as an equity analyst and portfolio manager. In her new role she will cover UK and European consumer companies. She joins from GIC (London) Private Limited where she spent 12 years focusing on consumer equity investments. Prior, she spent seven years at Morgan Stanley where her coverage included pan-European consumer companies. Anne Marie is also a non-executive director of the Investor Forum.

As part of the ongoing globalization of its Central Research Equity capability and post MiFID II, with reduced reliance on external research, Columbia Threadneedle established a Central Equity Research Team in EMEA to complement the company’s existing investment desk research analysts. Over the past 12 months Columbia Threadneedle has hired four career analysts for this team, including Roger Wilkinson who was recently appointed Head of EMEA Equity Research.

Globally, Columbia Threadneedle has a team of more than 180 investment analysts and research associates working together to produce original, independent research. Working collaboratively across all major asset classes and incorporating inputs from Responsible Investment and data science, they take information and turn it into replicable insights for our portfolio managers’ investment decisions to drive long-term consistent returns for our clients. The establishment of the EMEA Central Equity Research Team reflects our expanding investment in proprietary research.

William Davies, CIO, EMEA and Global Head of Equities, commented: ‘Anne Marie is an experienced career analyst and will undoubtedly help us attain deeper knowledge of consumer companies in the UK and Europe. As an active manager, research intensity is a key pillar in our investment approach and we are pleased to expand our Central Equity Research Team in EMEA, reflecting a structure which is already in place in the US. We already have a strong and established Credit Research function in the region and the development of a Central Equity Research Team adds greater insights as they work alongside our UK and European Equities teams, who manage €45.2bn[1] for our clients.’
