ING Investment Management announced the appointment of Patrick Chia as Head of Asian Fixed Income, based in Singapore. Mr Chia joins from Amundi, where he was the Head of Fixed Income and Currencies, responsible for the firm’s assets in Asia Pacific. Previously he has managed fixed income with companies including DBS Asset Management, OCBC, the Monetary Authority of Singapore and Standard Chartered. In this role, Patrick will have responsibility for leading ING IM’s Asian fixed income team, and also for contributing to ING IM’s global emerging market debt team, working in collaboration with colleagues in New York, Atlanta and The Hague. “Patrick is a seasoned investor with 24 years experience in Asian and global fixed income markets managing funds for a wide range of respected institutional investors including sovereign wealth funds,” said Rob Drijkoningen, Co-Head Emerging Market Debt, ING Investment Management. “I am confident that Patrick will continue to build on the success of our Asian fixed income strategies.” ING Investment Management’s actively managed flagship pan-Asian bond fund, ING (L) Renta Fund Asian Debt (Hard Currency) has a 10-year Morningstar rating of five stars and an overall Morningstar rating of four stars. The fund has also been awarded the Best Fund Over Ten Years Bond Asia Pacific by Lipper Fund Awards Hong Kong and Singapore 2010. ING Investment Management is also the winner of Benchmark 100 Fund of the Year Awards 2010 (Best in Class Fund for the Asia Bond Category) and AsianInvestor 2010 Investment Performance Awards - Asia Fixed Income Category. In terms of peer ranking, the fund is consistently ranked within the top quartile within the Morningstar universe over one, two, three, five and ten years.
