Gegham Ananyan (39) holds a diploma in statistics, finance and credit from the State Institute of National Economy (Armenia), as well as a diploma in banking and finance from the Economic Research Institute of the Ministry of Finance and Economy of the Republic of Armenia. He joined the Central Bank of Armenia in 1994 where he first worked as head of the State Reserves Management Division, and subsequently in 1998, as head of the Financial Markets Operations department. In 2004, he moved to IBM Business Consulting Services as a securities market expert before joining Warburg Invest in 2005 as head of Eastern European equities and fund manager. In 2008, he was appointed senior fund manager at Valartis Asset Management in Geneva where he was in charge of managing the Valartis Eastern European Equities fund. Gegham Ananyan’s appointment is part of Edmond de Rothschild Asset Management’s drive to reinforce its expertise in emerging markets, especially in Eastern Europe. Gegham Ananyan will be based in Frankfurt and report to Thomas Gerhardt. The Emerging Markets and Commodities team, headed up by Thomas Gerhardt, currently comprises 12 fund managers in Paris, Hong Kong and Frankfurt. A new fund manager specialised in emerging markets is expected to join the team in January. It covers major emerging markets either through general funds like Edmond the Rothschild Global Emerging and Edmond de Rothschild Asia Leaders, more focused funds like Edmond de Rothschild China and Edmond de Rothschild India or specific investment themes like commodities, gold and infrastructure, notably Edmond de Rothschild Commosphere and Edmond de Rothschild Goldsphere. |
