Carmignac Gestion supports Efama's meeting on the future for pensions in Europe

Drawing on its position as a leading asset management player in Europe, Carmignac Gestion has chosen to participate in the pension debate and thus support the working group organised by Efama (European Fund and Asset Management Association) held in Brussels on 4th October 2010. Like several other leading independent asset managers in Europe, Carmignac Gestion is an active member of Efama.

Roundtables discussions were lead by the key associations of the asset management industry, pension organisations and company director representatives from different countries. A representative from the French political party, the UMP, and European parliament members who have for a long time contributed to the creation of pan-European pension savings standards also took part. These debates are part of an initiative to promote long-term savings, an initiative wholly supported by Carmignac Gestion.
Eric Helderlé, Carmignac Gestion's Managing Director pointed out "The results of the study comparing European long-term savings products published by Debory show that it would be relatively easy to create a common regulatory framework to promote pension savings on a pan-European level. This European scheme will increase competition between the actors within this sector and will benefit the end investor. In the current climate of weak economic growth and low interest rates, it is important to rapidly come up with dynamic savings solutions designed for the long-term horizon".
